Makenzie Scroggs, Miss Louisiana 2023, from Marksville, Louisiana is a senior at Northwestern State University pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance. As Miss Louisiana she is the goodwill ambassador for the Louisiana Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, as well as a representative for the Miss Louisiana Organization’s Corporate sponsors: City of Monroe, Discover Monroe/West Monroe, University of Louisiana Monroe, Propane Dealers of Louisiana, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana, Louisiana Office of Tourism and TownePlace Suites by Marriott. Makenzie is the captain of the Northwestern State Demon Dazzler Dance Team, a member of Alpha Lambda Delta Honor Society, Purple Jackets Honor Society, Order of Omega Honor Society and Blue Key Honor Society. She is also a volunteer with the Northwestern Food Pantry and hosts confidence building workshops based on her Community Service Initiative “Being True to Being You: Cultivating Confidence in Future Female Leaders” where she has influenced hundreds of children. Makenzie has earned over $55,000 in cash and in-kind scholarships through the Miss America and Miss Louisiana Organizations. Makenzie has aspirations to dance professionally and open her own dance studio.
